Curaçao has no shortage of beautiful beaches and colorful streets, but the food deserves its own spotlight. Whether you want casual beach lunches, local flavors, kid-friendly breakfasts, or something a little more special, the island makes it really easy to eat well.
During our trip, we tried a mix of walkable Willemstad spots, beach restaurants, and local favorites recommended by both travelers and residents. Below are the places we loved (plus a few we had on our list but couldn’t get to), all written from a family-travel perspective so you can decide what’s worth adding to your itinerary.

La Bohème Curaçao (Willemstad)

Great for: Breakfast, smoothies, quick easy meals with kids
We loved this place so much we ordered takeout for lunch and then went back again for breakfast. It sits right in the heart of downtown Willemstad, which made it perfect for pairing with a morning walk across the floating bridge and browsing the shops.
Their smoothies are fresh and fun, and the menu has plenty of simple, kid-friendly options. If they have the tostones on the menu, get them. Delicious.
Why families love it:
- Easy walk from anywhere in Punda
- Quick service
- Lots of healthy options
- Good prices for Curaçao

Maira’s Kitchen (Willemstad)
Great for: Breakfast, cozy local vibe
We had breakfast here and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. It’s warm, welcoming, and delicious and is exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble on while traveling. Portions were generous, the coffee was great, and everything tasted fresh.
Kid-friendly notes: casual, relaxed, and easy. A perfect start to a day in town.

Bonita Beach Club (Mambo Beach)
Great for: Lunch with your toes in the sand. During our Mambo Beach day, we had lunch at Bonita Beach Club and it hit the spot with fresh, quick, and plenty of healthy options (a nice break from heavier resort meals). The girls fell asleep after lunch while an iguana casually wandered across the sand. Peak island vibes.
Why it works for families:
- Lots of menu variety
- Easy to get a table
- Right on the beach
- Smoothies + kid-friendly dishes

Koko’s (Jan Thiel Beach)

Great for: Beach lunch, easy parking, breezy atmosphere
Jan Thiel Beach has no shortage of places to eat, but we chose Koko’s for a relaxed lunch. The location is perfect. It’s right on the sand with shaded seating and a really pretty view. Parking was easy, and the menu is great for both adults and kids.
Pro tip: Get here earlier if you want cabanas or prime beach seating. They fill fast.

Bodega Siete Gotas (Willemstad)
Great for: Dinner, cocktails, live jazz, cozy atmosphere. Dinner at Bodega Siete Gotas was one of our favorite evenings. Smooth jazz was playing, the food was delicious, and we kept wanting to order “just one more thing.” I left absolutely stuffed in the best way.
It has a warm, intimate vibe and is perfect for a date night, but still casual enough if you have kids who can hang through a slower-paced dinner.

Restaurant Kultura Kòrsou at Hofi Mango
Great for: Casual local food + a unique setting
This is one of those restaurants you’re glad you didn’t overlook. The setting is fun, the food is really good, and we all agreed we would’ve gone back if we’d had more time. It’s a local, relaxed spot with a menu that works for both adventurous and picky eaters.

Swinging Old Lady Brewery (Willemstad)

Great for: Beer tasting + relaxed dinner
A fun stop if you want a craft brew or something different than the classic resort scene. Kid-friendly outdoors, casual atmosphere, and good bar-style food.

Isabella Off the Beach (Westpunt)
This place looked incredible based on both the menu and the reviews, but they weren’t open the day we visited. Important: They are not open daily, so check hours before you go.
Distance from Willemstad: ~25 minutes (approx. 12 miles / 19 km)
Still on our list for next time.

“The Best Smoothie in Curaçao” & Banda Bou Shakes
If you see signs around the island saying “The Best Smoothie in Curaçao,” follow them, it’s just part of the charm.
We also made it to Banda Bou Shake, known for fresh fruit smoothies in the Westpunt area. In true island-time fashion, it wasn’t open the first two times we tried (even though Google said it was), but we eventually caught them open and it was worth it. Refreshing after a beach day and great for kids.

Sol Food (Westpunt)
We didn’t eat here because their hours didn’t work with our schedule, but I wanted to include it because it’s often recommended for travelers exploring the beaches on the west side (open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lunch and dinner.). It has a beautiful setting and laid-back vibe — definitely a place we’d try next time.

How to Make the Most of Eating Out in Curaçao
Curaçao has such a fun mix of food with everything from easy grab-and-go breakfasts to local spots, beach lunches, and cozy dinner gems. If you’re traveling with kids, the island makes eating out surprisingly simple: lots of open-air seating, plenty of casual menus, and short wait times almost everywhere.
The best approach? Mix a few Willemstad restaurants with beach lunches and at least one local spot. That gave us the perfect balance of convenience and island flavor.
